In a concerning incident, a loaded lorry met with an accident on Saturday morning due to the deteriorating condition of National Highway 81 in the Kanua area of Harishchandrapur police station in Malda.
The two-lane national highway has been marred by ongoing roadwork on one side, forcing all vehicles to navigate through a poorly maintained road.
The accident occurred in the Konua Rahmatpur area when the lorry, en route from Dalkhola to Harishchandrapur, suddenly lost control and overturned. The driver sustained injuries, prompting local residents to provide immediate assistance and first aid.
Residents are expressing discontent over the prolonged delay in repairing the national highway, attributing occasional accidents to its poor condition.
